Another weeknight race at Road America. We had 13 today, and we did not make it for the first practice.
In second practice I finished in P7, which is where we were hoping. I started P3 in the first heat. I was behind someone who I’m not normally behind, and he braked way earlier than I had expected him to. I slammed on my brakes which turned me a little. I thought I was going to be able to save it, then someone ran into me and a ton of people hit us. Once we started going, I fell back to P10, but luckily I was able to make a couple passes and finish in P8.
I started the second heat in P9. After a couple laps, I was able to make a pass to P8. I tried to get faster lap times after the pass.
I started in P7 for the feature. I was able to stay there the whole race, so I mostly worked on getting faster lap times. I also was trying to keep up with the kart in front of me. I ended the day with a P7 finish.
Sadly, we didn’t get to Culvers of Cottage Grove, WI in time, but if we had, we definitely would have stopped there to pick up some post-race ice cream.
We finished the day off well, on to next week!
